Our Real Source Of Power

Our Real Source of Power – Where Does It Come From?

news across America

The mainstream news coverage of what’s going on in America, when you can bear to listen to the reports, continues to be disturbing.

I’m sure you’ve heard that our Christian faith (as well as some churches across the country) is under attack.

A reported bible-burning during a Portland riot.

Churches closed down.

Threatening churches with fines, or shutting off their power and water, and in some cases, arresting the pastors – these are incidents that are happening more often.

If you’d told me about these news stories twenty years ago, I wouldn’t have believed you.

No, it can’t be, not in America –we’re the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

Christians, fasten your seatbelts, unsettling times are ahead.

Regardless of which side of the mask debate you are on, (both viewpoints have merit) the fact is, shutting down churches *with no end in sight* would set a very dangerous precedent for the future.

Wouldn’t the Evil One just love that?

What an upside-down world we live in.

our real source of power

The godless can try and shut off the power to a church all they want, but they will never be able to turn off our “real source of power”.

I’m talking about the real power that we have as believers in Jesus Christ.

Are we ready for this ongoing spiritual battle?

Be prepared . . . for anything.

Can they stop us from worshiping?

The godless may win some victories along the way.

That means we may have to get more creative and find other ways of being together and/or sharing our faith.

God’s Word reminds us that no matter how awful the persecution gets, the light of the gospel always shines through the darkness.

Consider Paul and Silas in the Book of Acts.

Although they were severely beaten and bound, Paul and Silas prayed and sang to God – a powerful witness to their jailer and his family, as well as the other prisoners in that brutal jail.

Paul and Silas witness in prison

Do we have that same admirable courage and conviction today?

Our real source of power comes from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

No one will ever be able to shut off His light.

We’re going to see, in the days and years to come, evil as we have never seen it. And we’re also going to see the greatest revivals, the greatest awakenings, and multiplied millions of people are going to come to Jesus Christ. – Pastor Dr. Ray Pritchard, keepbelieving.com.

Christmas 2019

Creator of the Heavens and the Earth

King Jesus

23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.” Matthew 1:23, NASB.

Reverence For King Jesus

If we could condense all the truths of Christmas into only three words, these would be the words: ‘God with us.’ We tend to focus our attention at Christmas on the infancy of Christ. The greater truth of the holiday is His deity. More astonishing than a baby in the manger is the truth that this promised baby is the Omnipotent Creator of the heavens and the earth!1 – John MacArthur, Pastor and Bible Teacher, Grace To You.

On a Personal Note

Happy Thanksgiving 2019!

Wishing You A Happy Thanksgiving 2019

Happy Thanksgiving 2019

May your day be filled with joy, but even more importantly, gratitude for the One Who gave His own life so that you could have Eternal Life.

Gratitude = Praise

How would you describe gratitude?

Saying thanks

Appreciating all of God’s blessings

A thankful heart is one of the primary identifying characteristics of a believer. It stands in stark contrast to pride, selfishness, and worry. And it helps fortify the believer’s trust in the Lord and reliance of His provision, even in the toughest times. No matter how choppy the seas become, a believer’s heart is buoyed by constant praise and gratefulness to the Lord.1 – John MacArthur, Pastor and Bible Teacher, Grace To You.

Thank You Jesus

A.W Tozer offers another great description of gratitude here.

Gratitude is an offering precious in the sight of God, and it is one that the poorest of us can make and be not poorer, but richer for having made it.2A.W. Tozer, Christian theologian and author.

As we close out another year, I wanted to take this opportunity to say that I am deeply thankful to all of you who have visited my blog posts over the years. I have watched the number of visitors grow over time, more than I could have imagined.

All glory to God forever!

Jesus What Is Your ETA?

What is Your ETA?

Has anyone ever asked you that question?

Hopefully, it wasn’t a cellphone call from your boss because you’re late coming back from lunch.  😉

Many years ago, when I was a news reporter, we used to answer the ETA question a lot.

disturbing news headlines

For example, after covering a news story, my cameraman and I would radio the TV station to tell them we were finished and on our way back.

Something like this:

Me: Hey. We’re done. Headed back to Base.

Assignment Director: What’s your ETA?

Me: About 30 minutes.

Journalism is a very time-driven profession.

I think we’re all that way to a degree. We like to know when we can expect this or that to happen, especially if we’ve been waiting a long time. But it doesn’t always happen that way, does it?

Jesus, What Is Your ETA?

With the direction things are going in this mixed-up world, it’s no wonder the heightened yearning for our Savior’s return.

I read some of the disturbing news headlines, and silently pray the Lord comes back sooner rather than later.

But always in accordance with the timing of His will.

mixed-up world

Disturbing such as:

  • Did you ever think you’d see radicalized sex education being taught to grade school students?
  • Did you ever think you’d see a giant Ouija board erected in Massachusetts?

Very, very sad.

Depending on the headline, I cringe, or I cry, and sometimes I grieve, especially if it’s a story affecting the future of our children.

Please, make it stop.

Come Lord Jesus!

The fact is, just as in Biblical history past, we don’t know when Jesus will return.

God decided in His infinite wisdom that we don’t need to know the timing. The exact future day and time will remain a mystery, until it’s here.

Good News for Repentant Sinners

When the headlines get you down, remember Who is always in control.

I take comfort in the reminder that God will save every last sinner who repents and turns to follow Jesus.

But that takes time. This is a big world and God is moving in ways that we don’t see.Jesus what is your ETA?

God’s timing is always perfect, even though it can feel like forever to us.

Doesn’t God care about how bad things are getting?

He cares more than we could ever understand.

In the meantime, we must continue to persevere and shine the light of His glory as He exercises His Sovereign power over all of humanity.

. . . the real reason for the Lord’s delay is not that He is negligent or careless in fulfilling His promises, but simply because He is long-suffering and kind, delaying Christ’s coming and the wrath that will accompany it while He calls out people to salvation.

And Christ will not return before the merciful purposes of God are complete.

Far from suggesting apathy or neglect on God’s part, the long delay before Christ’s appearing simply underscores the remarkable depth of His nearly inexhaustible mercy and long-suffering.1 – John MacArthur, Pastor and Bible Teacher, Grace To You.

Praise God for His inexhaustible mercy, or none of us would be saved!

Answering Tough Questions About Christianity

Answering tough questions about Christianity

Have you ever had problems answering tough questions about your faith?

If you have, you’re not alone.

I’m pretty sure it’s happened to all of us at one time or another.

Before you know it, a skeptic catches us off-guard.

The end result?

Often, it’s disappointment in ourselves and a feeling like we’ve let God down.

Please remember, dear Christians: Take these challenges as an incentive to get better prepared!

It’s a constant educational process.

The more you learn, the more confident you’ll be.

If you’re struggling, it’s time to polish your spiritual armor.

pray

Here’s Why It’s Important to Pray About It First

Remember not only who we are, but more importantly, Whose we are.

Challenges to our faith are becoming more frequent, and that’s why praying about these future encounters is so important.

Pray for courage and guidance on a daily basis. If we don’t pray about it, we’re sending a message that we don’t think we need God. We’d rather rely on our own influence and intelligence.

It’s a big responsibility but, as Pastor John MacArthur reminds us, it’s not our job to *change* men’s hearts. We’re to speak the truth in love. Evangelism succeeds in God’s timing, not ours.

Changing hearts is the supernatural work of God.

It gets frustrating at times, but we’re not failures simply because the person we’re trying to reach blows us off every time.

Don’t give up!

When you believe that every word of scripture comes from God and is authoritative and true, and you believe that God is the One, Sovereignly and powerfully, Who uses that truth to change people’s lives – that produces courage. The courage of confidence in Scripture and the courage that God will work through that. You speak that truth with courage and with love and leave the results to the Lord.1 – John MacArthur, Pastor and Bible Teacher, Grace To You.

Answering Tough Questions About Christianity

Why do we evangelize?

Our motive is pure, despite mischaracterizations from the entertainment world.

We want to help lead people to Christ because we love them and care about where they’ll spend their eternity.

It’s up to us to get the skeptic to think about their faith challenges, but not to get them to sign on the dotted line first time out. It could even take years with someone, if it even happens at all.

It’s important to note that we don’t “win people for Christ” – without God.

Keep on gently listening and planting those seeds, then give it to God.

Please watch this excellent clip from apologist, Greg Koukl from “Stand To Reason.”
