Happy Thanksgiving 2024

Celebrating a Happy Thanksgiving 2024

On this Thanksgiving 2024, my husband and I want to sincerely thank you for your tremendous support and kind words.

We’ve had the blessing of talking with a few of you and are extremely grateful for your continued encouragement.

Many years ago when I had to quit my job as a TV reporter, I thought that was the end of everything.

Career, goals, a certain future . . . a life tied up in a neat little bow.

But God had other plans.

He shifted my passion to writing about Him.

Through every experience we’ve been through as a family (many shared here on my blog) our faith has only grown stronger.

God has touched my life in countless ways. I have felt His presence so many times, even during difficult circumstances.

I can’t help but think back to the year 1997, lying in that pitch black dark hospital room.

It was around 2:00 a.m. in the morning, my leg was in an uncomfortable cast, and emotional thoughts about our niece who lost her life at our family reunion haunted me. I was full of questions and grief.

God sent an angel to my hospital room that morning . . . literally.  Of course, all glory goes to God, not to His messenger.

Dearest Heavenly Father, I know that You spared my life for a reason.

No matter what challenges head my way, distractions to throw me off or weaken my faith, You have never left my side.

Thank You for blessing me with a heart for writing about You, and for allowing me to share Your message of hope and love with others. May your Holy Spirit always give me the right words to say.

My goal is that each post I write is a testament to Your greatness.

Thank You God, and thank you for sending us Your Son.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, God bless you and may you have an amazing year ahead.

Happy Thanksgiving 2024

Thanksgiving 2017

Who’s ready for Thanksgiving 2017?!

Thanksgiving 2017

Have you tackled that grocery list yet?

I don’t know about you, but our grocery list keeps getting longer and longer every year.

There’s always new recipes to try, and it’s a great opportunity to channel my inner – Chef Alex Guarnaschelli.

But, with all the excitement of people coming over and delicious food, we should never forget what’s most important about Thanksgiving 2017.

Thanking God

What does Scripture say?

The Bible contains many passages about thanking our Creator God.  Here’s a beautiful verse from David in the Psalms.

*12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever. – Psalm 86:12 (ESV).

Just as David experienced major challenges and trials in his life, so do we.

Even so, David praises God, and so should we!

Thank you, Father, for sending us Your Son.

Thank you for hearing our prayers.

Even though it’s hard to be patient sometimes, thank You God for Your timing and providence, because You know what’s best for each one of us.

There is no one like You.

Humbly, we thank You for all Your blessings which are too numerous to count.

Dear Readers, Happy Thanksgiving 2017

From our family to yours, may your Thanksgiving be blessed.

We want to wish you and your loved ones a safe and happy holiday filled with joy and love.

And, for all of our military men and women who are spending their Thanksgiving’s away from their homes and loved ones, we can never say thank you enough. God bless you!

Happy Thanksgiving, Friends!

Happy Thanksgiving, Friends!

Happy Thanksgiving

I love Thanksgiving. Next to Christmas, it’s my favorite time of the year.

It’s fun to dig out all of my Mom’s old recipes. There’s a memory connected to each one.

Yesterday, I pulled out my trusty 3-ring binder and it’s chock full of pages listing ingredients that make my mouth water.

We kept our Thanksgiving meal pretty traditional when I was growing up. I have fond memories of delicious food, footballs games on television, and board games spread out to challenge everyone. The masterpiece finale was always my Dad’s pecan pie.

The secret ingredient? A big dose of love.

A Few Tweaks to the Thanksgiving Meal

My husband and I both love to cook. In fact, we watch most of the cooking competitions on Food Network so we’ve come up with a few successful tweaks to Thanksgiving recipes.

Uh oh, I said “tweaks.”

Now don’t hate.

I do like pumpkin pie, it’s just not my favorite.

pecan pie

Give me a pecan pie any day. A slice of that pecan deliciousness and I’m on a happy sugar high for hours.

On another note, when you’re around me, please pronounce it  “puh con,” and not “pee can,” or you’ll drive me crazy! We southerners take that kind of thing seriously  😉

I have to confess, I have tweaked my Mom’s green bean casserole recipe. I always thought that green bean casseroles were…uh…very bland.

There, I said it! Sorry, mom.

So, with the best intentions and a nod to the great state of Texas and Tex Mex, I add Mexican cheese to my green bean casserole. I have to say – it rocks!

I hope you have an enjoyable Thanksgiving and I wish you safe travels if you’re away from home.

May your week be filled with love and joy and, most importantly, gratitude to our heavenly Father.

God bless!

Thoughts About a Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving !

Happy ThanksgivingWhat I’m thankful For This Year

I’m thankful for our Heavenly Father. He loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die on the cross to pay the price for our sins. That is pure grace and love. He gives us a way to get to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ. If you’re a nonbeliever reading this, I pray that you will accept Him as your Lord and Savior.

Gods heartI’m thankful for my husband.  I love you more and more every day. God brought us together and our marriage has been a gift for a lifetime.

I’m thankful that I live in America

American flag

Still the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I’m thankful for our extended family. We love the holidays and also those fun visits. We look forward to many more in the coming year (with a new baby in tow).  🙂

Family

I’m thankful for *NG and *SG, our beautiful sponsor children. May God bless them and their families and we look forward to getting to know them.

I’m thankful for my friends. I cherish each and every one of them. I love our phone calls and our visits, even those texts which can go on for quite awhile!

And last, but certainly not least, I’m thankful for my three goofy and lovable Siberian Huskies. They keep us laughing every day, despite all the mischief they get into.

huskySafe travels to all of you who are reading this and I hope that you and yours will have a blessed Thanksgiving.
