Singing For Joy

A long time ago when I was a television reporter, the news director once said I had a “mellifluous” voice.

Yeah, I had to look that one up. Lol!

It means, “flowing like honey.”

That was a pretty nice compliment, but I’ve been flowing like honey for several years now and have yet to be discovered.

I digress. 🙂

Singing is a big part of me.

In previous posts, I’ve mentioned how much I love singing, especially singing in church choirs.

It’s pure joy knowing that God hears us praising Him.

It also excites me to think that, sometime in our future, we believers will be together praising the Lord for all eternity.

6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord! – Psalm 150:6, (ESV).

Christian A Cappella Music

A few days ago, I was searching for beautiful and inspiring Christian music to share and I came across David Wesley’s YouTube channel.

Eureka!

Talk about heart-stirring Christian a cappella music, I found some real treasures.

David Wesley is a talented vocalist and music producer. In many of his YouTube performances, he’s a one-man-choir, recording himself singing the different vocal parts of a chosen worship song.

In a few other standout melodies, he created a virtual choir – bringing together people who have never met each other from all over the world.

I can’t wait to share this song with you. It’s a favorite Christian song of mine, “In Christ Alone,” written by Stuart Townend and Keith Getty. Wesley’s arrangement of it is genius in my opinion.

I don’t know how he did it, but his arrangement features singers not only from the USA, but also from Germany, Poland, India and Australia – to name just a few of the countries represented.

In my humble opinion, listening to this virtual choir is a foretaste of Heaven.

I suggest you turn this one up, close your eyes and let these lyrics defining God’s grace flow over your soul like the still waters in Psalm 23.

Beautiful, isn’t it?

Singing for an audience of One Who deserves our highest praise.

You can find other beautiful arrangements on David Wesley’s YouTube channel and, for purchase, on iTunes and Amazon.

All glory to God!

Caleb And Kelsey – Soul Stirring Christian Music

Caleb And Kelsey - Christian Music

Caleb And Kelsey – Christian Music

Have you ever heard a Christian vocalist sing a song so beautiful that it makes you feel like you want to get down on your knees and praise God, no matter where you are?

One of my favorites for this is, “How Great Is Our God.”

I was so excited to find a captivating version of it from the Nashville duo, Caleb and Kelsey Grimm, whose voices are clearly a gift from God.

This talented married couple beautifully combine the song with two other classic melodies in this soulful mashup below.

Caleb and Kelsey – A Little Background

Caleb and Kelsey Grimm have a large fan base – as evidenced by the growing popularity of their Christian cover songs and medleys. Their Facebook page alone has garnered well over two million followers.

“I grew up singing in church and I love the way worship music connects people. It’s a universal language,” shares Kelsey.1 – Kelsey Grimm, Christian vocalist.

Does Caleb’s name sound familiar? He’s a well-known vocalist with Anthem Lights.

Kelsey first gained popularity with the Christian band, “1 Girl Nation,” back in 2012.

A song I could sing over and over again is “Good, Good Father.”

In this next Caleb and Kelsey cover, we are reminded through this wonderful song of the precious and life-affirming truth that we are no longer slaves to sin because of the Father’s perfect love for us.

Caleb and Kelsey’s latest album,” Hymns” (Rhodes Records/The Fuel Music) came out earlier this year, featuring many Christian favorites such as “Be Thou My Vision” and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”

I hope you get a chance to check it out.

Be blessed!

A Talented Young Singer

Encouragement For Your Day From A Talented Young Singer

If you’ve read any of my blog posts from the past, then you know that on occasion I love to feature Christian music.

Music is a big part of my life, especially Christian music.

Psalm 30 comes to mind.

11You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,
12 That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.Psalm 30:11-12, NASB.

Recently, as I was searching for new songs and talent, I came across a young boy who has the voice of an angel.

Perhaps you’ve seen him on YouTube where over 36 million viewers have tuned into his channel.

His name is Steven Samuel Devassy.

I don’t know about you, but I see and hear joy when he sings God’s praises.

So Many Reasons

We have so many reasons to praise the Lord.

The lyrics to Matt Redman’s “10,000 Reasons” comes to mind.

Here’s Steven Samuel Devassy singing this beautiful cover song.

Keep an eye on this talented young singer, now an 11-year-old, who also plays the drums. I do believe he has a future in Christian music!

Music To Help Soothe Your Mind

Soothing Christian Music

music to help soothe your mind

Do you ever wish you could find some beautiful music to help soothe your mind?

It’s been a delight over the years to discover and share new Christian music with you.

It’s “new” to me, I should say.

For this reason, I will always remain thankful for the (original) Christian Music Challenge, which I took years ago at the urging of its now retired founder and a friend of mine, Al Menconi.

Christian music has blessed me during the hills and valleys of my own life, and I’m grateful to God for the realization of this gift.

It’s been a wonderful and constant search for me as I seek out Christian artists whose songs have really touched me in some way.

That’s why I’m so happy to share two more songs with you.

Jesus Our Hope In The Storm

our Hope in the storm

There’s no doubt, we will face trials in this life.

Whether it be a health crisis, a family crisis, an upheaval at work. There are countless things that can go wrong.

These storms will distract us, break us, and even make us question God at times.

Even so, we must keep our focus where it belongs – on Jesus and His promises.

This 2004 song from Fernando Ortega really struck a chord with me. Several of my friends are experiencing sleepless nights over some tough challenges, so this song really caught my attention.

It’s called ”Sleepless Night.”

I was at the grocery store the other day and started humming in the aisles. I realized the song I was humming quietly was the chorus from “Sleepless Night.”

Such a hauntingly beautiful, Christian-themed, melody.

Music To Help Soothe Your Mind

I really love this next song called, “Jesus, King of Angels.”

It’s a sweet lullaby for any age.

Calming words, soothing vocals, and soul-stirring reverence are a pleasant combination.  More reason why I listen to this song again and again.

I hope it encourages you as well.

God bless you, dear friends in Christ.

When God Is Silent

What Does It Mean When God Is Silent?

when God is silent

Have you prayed and prayed about an important decision, and waited and waited, and it seems like it’s taking forever to get an answer?

God’s timing and our timing are two very different things.

It’s important to remember that He hears us.

Absolutely, and loud and clear.

He hears every prayer, and sees every tear.

So why does God make us wait?

Trust Him More

Waiting can be tough, especially when you’re desperately seeking answers.

Daily (or nightly) prayers are essential, but here’s the most important thing – praying for God’s will and not our own.

Oops, we often forget that part.

The happiest ending may seem clear to us, but only God knows the final outcomes.

Despite what we think is best, the timing may not be right yet, or His answer is No.

If you read through Psalms, you’ll see that God didn’t always answer the prayers of His people right away.

Psalms

We must trust Him more, not less, even when it seems like it’s taking forever to get an answer.

When the waiting gets especially tough, I often turn to Christian music.

Here’s a favorite by the Newsboys that I believe captures the authenticity of our faith.

Is Our Timing More Important Than God’s Timing?

Our deadlines are not His deadlines.

There were several times in the past when my husband and I prayed about a big decision we had to make. We thought we knew what His answer would be, but it didn’t quite work out like we thought it would.

Years later, we can now look back and see that God was protecting us from something we didn’t realize at the time.

Some prayers are followed by silence (from God) because they are wrong, others because they are bigger than one can understand. It will be a wonderful moment for some of us when we stand before God and find that the prayers we clamored for in early days and imagined were never answered have been answered in the most amazing way, and that God’s silence has been the sign of the answer. – Oswald Chambers, Evangelist and Christian Minister.
