The Christmas Spirit

A Great Video To Get You Into The Christmas Spirit

Asking for a friend šŸ˜‰

Is it okay to have a crush on the gents of the musical group, ā€œGentriā€?

Gentri "Do You Hear What I Hear?"

Iā€™m telling you – these extremely talented guys get me right in the heartstrings with their music every single time, especially during the Christmas season.

First off, their voices are gorgeous, blending together in perfect harmony.

But, thereā€™s more to it.

In my opinion, what launches them above many other artists who release Christmas songs, are the captivating videos The Gentlemenā€™s Trio release on YouTube.

The storylines behind their music can make you cry happy tears, or at least bring a smile.

This year, the group is back again with another winner to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Gentri just recently released an endearing version of the beloved Christmas song, ā€œDo You Hear What I Hear?ā€ which premiered on Thanksgiving Day.

As of this writing, the video has already gotten over 2.7K views. Their take of the classic song provides a delightful look at the meaning of Christmas through the eyes of children.

Where did they find these adorable kids?

Watch this and youā€™ll see what I mean . . .

Didnā€™t you love it when the children were describing the gifts the wise men could have brought Baby Jesus?

“Baby things, like Onesies!”

So precious.

What I See This Year

Do you see what I see?

This year, I see a Christmas full of “change” that nobody wants, and one that looks different from any other Christmas Iā€™ve ever experienced in my life.

But will you hear what I hear?

In churches, we should hear a time-honored message of redemption that never changes ā€“ no matter what.

The Christmas Spirit

The Christmas Spirit Will Live Forever

As church goers across the country celebrate Christmas in person, and in some cases, watch the service live stream – the story of Christā€™s birth will continue to be told.

Our Savior was born in a manger, and He came to save mankind.

It’s a gift – so the choice is up to us whether to accept eternal happiness, or be sentenced to a godless existence without Him.

The Almighty appeared on earth as a helpless human baby, needing to be fed and changed and taught to talk like any other child. The more you think about it, the more staggering it gets. Nothing in fiction is so fantastic as this truth of the Incarnation.1

Who You Know

It’s Not Who You Are, But Who You Know

Who is God

Do you know who God is?

If you were to search for the answer on Google, youā€™d have to wade through about 2,080,000,000 results!!

That’s over two billion web pages for review – delivered to you in about 46 seconds time.

who you know, not who you are

For the truth-seeking person who wants to learn more about God, that would be an exhausting and frustrating search.

How would he or she possibly know which web pages offer the truth about God, and which ones promote a false gospel to stay away from?

Here’s the time-saving answer:

We can learn about God through His inspired Word.

In other words, “it’s in the Book!”

His sovereignty, His mercy and grace, and His never-ending capacity to forgive – it’s all right here in the precious Word of God.

Godā€™s glory embodies everything praiseworthy and everything we ought to desire. It is the centerpiece of heavenā€™s joys, so radiant and all-pervasive that it totally eliminates the need for any other source of illumination in the realm where God dwells (Rev 21:23). Heaven will never be boring or monotonous precisely because Godā€™s glory will be on full display throughout every detail of the new heavens and new earth. In short, no other charm or pleasure could conceivably provoke more wonder, interest, or delight. Best of all, Godā€™s glory will never lose its appeal or its luster.1John MacArthur, Pastor and Bible Teacher, Grace To You.

People Are Searching For God

Friends, I donā€™t know about you, but praying for the lost is a big priority for me this year.

The eternal stakes for the unsaved are high and they either don’t realize it, or worse, they don’t care.

Sadly, and as Christians, we know that there are people around us who mistakenly believe that “being a nice person” is all that it takes to receive eternal life.

The truth is, a good personality is admirable, but it isn’t what gets you into Heaven.Ā

A person may be a good parent, an understanding boss, a happy volunteer, a consistent winner of a congeniality award ā€“ but none of those descriptions matter when it comes to their eternal salvation.

What does matter is the truth on how to obtain it.

It’s not who we are and how good we think we are, it’s who we know.

Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by any of our own efforts.

To think otherwise diminishes His death on the Cross for our sins, and His triumphant Resurrection.

Considering everything the Lord went though on that horrific cross, He still forgives.

There are so many broken people out there who don’t know that God can forgive them no matter what they’ve done in their past.

Their lives are worth saving, if only they’d come to the saving knowledge of our Savior.

Watch as this encouraged young man finally receives that blessed hope.

Grace Beyond Measure

It’s beyond comprehension that Jesus Christ died for our sins knowing that we will sin again.

We are so unworthy of a love like that.

But, He does love us.

How many chances does He give us to turn from our sins and turn back to Him?

Way more chances than we deserve.

In fact, a lifetime of chances to ask forgiveness from Him every time we sin.

The Character of God

As Christians, weā€™d do well to remember that, when we reach Heaven, itā€™s not because of who we are, but who we know and because of who He is.

Thank You Father for who You are

Happy Thanksgiving 2020

Wishing You A Happy Thanksgiving 2020!

Happy Thanksgiving 2020

First and foremost, I am forever grateful to know You, Jesus Christ, as my Lord and Savior.

Is it possible to love You even more?

Every day, I look forward to studying Your Word and listening to a podcast when I’m getting ready in the morning. (I have a few favorite pastors!)

It’s the best way for me to start my day right.

I look forward to attending church every Sunday and I’m so grateful that our church is open. The prayers, the excellent preaching, the beautiful music, and the fellowship with my brothers and sisters in Christ can’t be beat.

Thank You, Jesus!

Itā€™s also with a grateful heart that I want to sincerely thank all of you for visiting my blog, Delight-in-God.

It means a lot to see those audience numbers rise and to know that we all share the same love and reverence for our Savior and King.

What a year of calamity this has been.

Even so, we can be thankful knowing that, as the apostle Paul assured the Thessalonians so long ago, the Lord fights for us!

Our Heavenly Father never changes.

He keeps His promises.

No battle, spiritual or otherwise, is too great for Him.

The wickedness so rampant on this earth will be defeated.

You can count on it.

Some future day, the unrepentant godless who continue to attack our Christian faith and evangelistic efforts in America and around the globe, will be thrown into the lake of fire along with the Evil One.Ā

We can also look forward to that appointed time in the future, when there will be an end to all suffering, physical pain, and sadness. No more sorrowful phone calls from a loved one going through sickness, or a terrible trial.

Praise the Lord!

3Ā But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.2 Thessalonians 3:3, (NASB).

Here’s some good news.

No wait – here’s some great news!

If youā€™re a Christian trusting in Christ alone as your Savior, youā€™re going to Heaven some day.

What a joyful day that will be.

I’ll say it again, thank You Jesus!

Until that time of endless joy,

here’s wishing you and your family

a Happy Thanksgiving 2020!

Our Greatest Joy

Celebrating The Birth of Our Greatest JoyĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā

celebrating the birth of our greatest joy

Have you noticed that Christmas lights are going up early this year?

I used to think, ā€œBefore Thanksgiving? Way too early.ā€

Not this year!

This week, weā€™re getting out our Christmas decorations and joining our fellow neighbors and friends who are decorating their homes right now for the holidays.

I know, I know. Itā€™s not even Thanksgiving yet.

This year is different.

The joy and excitement that Christmas provides seems especially needed this year, and sooner rather than later.

Everyone Iā€™ve talked to says that theyā€™re just “tired of all of it.ā€

If youā€™re feeling this way also, please know that youā€™re not alone.

Iā€™m sad too about all of the negatives and hardships this year ā€“ family losses, the continued suffering, the virus itself, the cancellations, the masks, and the political volatility.

Our hearts are crying out for the joyful holiday celebrations that we remember and love.

In truth, how could they not?

I can’t wait to see more Christmas lights and decorations go up.

They’re a beautiful sight for the eyes, but we should always remember what this time of year is really all about – our Blessed Savior.

Politicians and the like may try, but they will never ā€œcancelā€ Him.

Focus On The Lord

Jesus, our Deliverer, is our greatest Joy.

We are not defeated Christians!

Paul said the following words of truth to the Colossians – an encouragement that we can also find rest in:

Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth. ā€“ Colossians 3:1-2, (NASB).1

Our Greatest Joy – Guaranteed!

I’ll leave you with this beautiful poem I found recently that really touched my heart.

Jill Briscoe’s lovely words are a reminder of God’s unequaled love for His creation, and that includes you and me.

We are treasured and we are loved.

No matter what we go through, and will go through in the coming days, evil will take a defeated nosedive before King Jesus at the appointed time.

Undeniably, our greatest joy is ahead, guaranteed!!Ā

Kneeling with Kings
by Jill Briscoe

Kneeling with kings at the crib of my Savior,
Singing in praise with the angels on high;
Here with Your people, wondering about You,
I’m thinking of Jesus and wanting to cry!

Father, I love You for giving me heaven
Wrapped in the form of a newborn so small,
But how could You stand to know all that would happen
When You left Him in Bethlehem in an animal stall?

Treasured in glory and praised by creation
God as a baby to humans on loan;
Why didn’t You run down the stairway of heaven,
Snatch up Your God Child and take Him back home?

What’s that You’re saying?Ā  You left Him to save me?
You love me as much as You love Your sweet Son?
You gave me Your heart when You gave me Your Jesus
And my Father’s full giving is only begun.

I bring You my life and the years lent for living
For Your crib-and-cross sacrifice tear me apart;
When You count all my tears as I kneel at this altar,
May You know it worthwhile when You look at my heart!

A Stunning Display of Godā€™s Creation

A Canā€™t Be Missed Stunning Display of God’s Creation

a stunning display of God's creation

One of the most breathtaking sights the world has to offer, in my opinion, is the Aurora Borealis.

Itā€™s always been a dream of mine to go to Alaska and witness this natural phenomenon and stunning display of Gods creation.

Ahhh, some day.

Aurora Borealis: magnificent display of God's creation

I donā€™t know about you, but Iā€™m awestruck just looking at some of the stunning photos of the northern lights on the internet.

A symphony of brilliant colors literally dance across the sky.

How can people not believe in our Creator God when they see something like this?

And how can people not believe in our Creator God when they see a broken life transformed through the saving knowledge of salvation through Christ alone?

God is good, all the time.

Only He can create such a beautiful phenomenon as the Aurora Borealis.

If you canā€™t go see this stunning light display in person, like me, you can soak in the photos and the videos online.

A welcome breather from all of the political news, right?

The Aurora Borealis Explained

So what exactly are the Northern Lights?

I’ll leave that explanation to the experts.

The Northern Lights are actually the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth’s atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun’s atmosphere.Ā  Northern Lights Centre.1

If you live in Alaska or Finland, your chances of seeing the Northern Lights are excellent.

But hereā€™s something even better . . .

Do you know what will be even more grand than seeing the Northern Lights?

No earthly beautiful thing, even the Aurora Borealis, will ever be able to compare with being in Heaven with our Savior.

Can you imagine the complete joy and excitement to finally be in His presence?

God’s Creation On Display: The Aurora Borealis

Thinking about that future joy reminded me of a great video I saw recently.

This video features a sweet family with their young son seeing the northern lights in Fairbanks for the first time.

As you will see and hear, you donā€™t have to be a five year old child to enjoy the wonder of Godā€™s creation.

The video is a little longer than what I normally post, but itā€™s worth the watch.

This, my brothers and sisters in Christ, is just a foretaste of our humility, wonder, and joy when we receive our eternal lives in Heaven.

That promise is why I delight in God.

What do you think your reaction will be when you see Jesus in Heaven?

After falling humbly at His feet in reverence, I think our happiness will turn to shouts of joy similar to the video above.

As God promised victory to Israel over her enemies so long ago, likewise when Jesus returns, the enemies of our faith will be defeated.

Hallelujah!

But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy!Psalm 68:3, (NASB).
