When I Get There

A Loved One In Heaven

When I get there to Heaven

Have you ever attended the funeral of a loved one?

Even though you know they trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior, it can be a day filled with sadness over the loss of a treasured person in our lives.

We miss them terribly.

Unexpected triggers can bring back the heartbreak very quickly.

It’s okay to cry.

When the tears start to fall, reach out to God in your heart.

You might also want to call a Christian friend like I’ve done in the past. We’re here for each other.

It helps to hear an understanding voice when your heart grieves.

When They Get To Heaven

Think of your deceased loved one, right now, if you can.

Can you imagine the moment they reached Heaven and saw Jesus face-to-face?

Mere words can’t adequately describe their joy, were we already in Heaven to witness it.

When the tears come, I think about what that blessed moment for my own loved ones must have been like.

Fellow Christian Writer, Tammy Hamrick, wrote a lovely poem about this. If you’re grieving right now, I hope it encourages you.

When I Get There

When I get there to Heaven,
I wonder just how I’ll be.
When I meet my Lord,
What will He say to me??

When I get there to Heaven,
I have been told,
It will be beyond compare,
With streets made of gold.

When I get there my mind,
And eyes will be clear.
My body made new again.
No pain or tears.

When I get there,
I’ll see treasures galore,
The walls will be made of jewels,
Like nothing I’ve seen before.

When I get there,
There won’t be darkness or night.
But the light of the Lord’s love,
Will eternally shine bright.

I’m sad to be leaving,
My loved ones below,
But in Heaven there is no mourning
So please hear this before I go.

I know you’ll shed some tears,
I know you’ll need to cry.
But don’t dwell on my death my friends,
Please celebrate my life.

My life here on Earth has had,
It’s ups and downs for sure.
But the Lord has brought us through it all,
He’s helped us to endure.

He’ll help you through these times,
As hard as it may be.
And I’ll always be a part of you,
And you a part of me.

I know you’ve relied on God,
Which I hope you’ll continue to do.
Your courage and strong faith,
Has helped me through this too.

Continue to praise Him for His mercy.
Praise Him for who He is.
Praise Him for His grace and love
And every blessing that He gives.

And now He’s calling me home,
So please try not to despair.
Think how grand it will be for me,
When I finally get there!
