How Can Anyone Not Believe

How Can Anyone Not Believe in Our Creator God?

How can anyone not believe

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved seeing fireflies.

Tiny twinkling lights randomly dancing across the neighborhood under the night sky.

It’s such a great childhood memory, and one of the many reasons I delight in God.

Thank you God for the little firefly –

an amazing reminder that

creation is Yours

and how blessed we are to even share in it!

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, the apostle reminded the people, and by extension all of us, of the glory of God unveiled each new day.

Even so, the foolish still refuse to honor Him.

Romans 1:20

The evidence that creation belongs to God is staggering, despite skeptics’ failed attempts to disprove what we all know is true.

How can anyone not believe in our Creator God?

There’s a song by talented singer-songwriter, Leanna Crawford, that I’m drawn to for this very reason.

It’s called, “How Can You Not.”

I hope you enjoy the God-honoring and heartfelt lyrics as much as I do.

How Can Anyone Not Believe

There’s a sweet story behind the writing of Leanna’s song.

In an interview she once said, “For me, being outside was another way to feel closer to God.”

“My parents were visiting me in Nashville and my dad had never seen fireflies before. Most people don’t know this, but there are no fireflies in the Pacific Northwest. We were out walking in the rain because we’re from the rainy state of Washington and don’t care about getting wet. But when the rain slowed down, the field next to us lit up like the night sky. My dad saw all those fireflies and said, ‘How can you not see the Creator?’ It was such a beautiful moment. And I was reminded that God created things like fireflies to show us how much He loves us.”Leanna Crawford, singer songwriter.2

Happy News

Happy News For Today

happy news for today

Is there any happy news to report during these difficult times?

I promise you that there is.

First, and foremost, we can hold on to the loving promises that apply to us from God’s Word.

In the second chapter of Philippians, for instance, we come across the reminder that, as Christians, we should do everything to the glory of God.

We can’t earn our salvation.

But, we can reflect the Lord’s greatness with our words as well as our deeds.

Happy news to believe in

Secondly, there is the evidence of God’s grace that we can actually see.

While most of the mainstream news media is busy reporting bad news, there are everyday heroes working behind the scenes.

These are folks who continue to show kindness, grace, and hope to their neighbors, even when it seems like the world is falling apart.

Heartwarming events continue to happen every day, pandemic or not.

After the Storm

after the storm

Just over a week ago, a terrible lightning storm hit our area.

When I say terrible, I mean it was a wake-you-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night kind of storm.

The thunder and lightning raged on and on, starting about 4 a.m.

There was no sleep in our house at that point.

When the morning sunrise finally came, the local news reported that several houses in our county had gone up in flames.

No physical injuries, thank the Lord, but those families lost everything.

We drove by one of the homes.

It was taped off, totally destroyed.

Neighbors stood outside consoling each other.

A few hours later that same day a “GoFundMe” page was started for all of us who wanted to donate.

I watched the page stats as the number of donations rose to help meet the goal.

Other folks in the community started a collection of essentials for each family, such as diapers, articles of clothing, cleaning supplies, and restaurant certificates.

There is still good happening in the world.

Nothing, or no one, can totally destroy the beautiful spirit on display of Americans helping each other in a crisis.

An Unexpected Blessing

More happy news.

A good friend of mine recently underwent major surgery. We were so grateful to hear after a few hours that her operation was a success.

Guess what she told me later that day when I called her?

She said, “God sent me an angel.”

You can bet I was curious.  🙂

She said that while she was in Pre-Op, one of the doctors came in and asked if he could pray with her.

And he did . . . on his knees!

live out your faith

Talk about living out your faith in a godless world.

In these difficult times, take heart, be bold, and live out your faith.

Grace

His Grace Is Enough

The word “Grace” is, to me, one of the most beautiful words in the English language. When you think about what the word means, unexpected and unmerited favor, it gives me great encouragement to know that God created the potential of this beautiful quality in all of us so that we can share it with others.

Grace started with Him. His grace is enoughWhen Jesus paid the penalty for yours and my sin, His grace covered all of it.

Do we still sin? Yes, but if we truly repent, God forgives and continues to refine and perfect us. Remember the “potter and the clay” analogy? It’s a perfect description of how God works in all of our lives. God’s grace is a refining fire in the midst of trials.

Everyone has the opportunity to receive His grace. It makes me sad when I hear that there are people who still believe they have to earn their way into Heaven.

They can’t. It’s impossible. We must believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal salvation and that is the path we must take.

A Thorny Path

It’s a path that’s sometimes filled with thorns. Bad things will happen to us – we can expect it at some point in our lives. We may even question God about the injustice of it all.

Take heart, dear one.

God has promised He would always be with us, and if it’s in His divine plan, He will bring healing if it accomplishes His purpose. There is always a purpose.

Cancer, Alzheimer’s, heart disease – there are so many words like these that strike fear and discouragement when they become a part of our lives or of someone we love.

How do we survive a diagnosis such as these?

faith and prayerWith Faith. It has to be with Faith.

Please add “a lot of prayer from friends and family” to that because God listens to every one. He hears your every heart beat and He hears your every word. Trust in Him and His plan for your life. We know that God is already working your suffering for good, maybe tomorrow or maybe way into the future. We must trust Him, even when the healing doesn’t come in this life.

A friend of mine, Martha F. from Texas, has experienced God’s grace within her own family. We are all sinners in the eyes of God. Here’s a verse to illustrate that from the book of Romans:

Romans 3:23 —

* 23 All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

All is Not Lost However

Taken by itself, one might think that all is lost, that there’s no way we can measure up. But all is not lost. Jesus provided a way for us to spend our lives eternally in His presence and where there will be nothing but joy.

Martha adds:

This verse sums up the human race to me and the grace that is available to all who receive Jesus as their Savior. It is a reminder to me that no one, no not one, of us are pure and blameless, but we have hope in Jesus as He took the punishment for our sins. Everyone has sinned, but everyone also has the opportunity to receive Christ. Because we all are sinners, Jesus died for all, not just an elect few. We all have the opportunity, as we are all sinners, to receive eternal salvation.

Nothing Compares To God’s Grace

We will have an eternal future with Him that will be better than anything we have ever experienced – that means all the beautiful sunsets, fun times spent with our loved ones, personal experiences with grace, exciting vacations, alone time spent with God – when it’s our time to leave this world, we will spend our time with Him in His holy presence and nothing can even compare with that.

His grace will always be enough. Here’s a song I love by Sara Groves. I hope you enjoy. God bless you all this week.
