Are There Sugar Cookies In Heaven? 

The other day I found my grandmother’s old Bible in one of our bookcases.

It’s been a while since I’ve looked through it, but a lot of memories came flooding back when I did.

I remember those long drives to get to her house in Oklahoma where she lived with my aunt. 

I couldn’t drive yet so I was in the back seat, usually doing homework or trying to read a book without getting car sick.

As a little kiddo on those vacations, it was a treat to pull into my grandmother’s driveway, walk into the kitchen, and be greeted by the delicious smells of homemade sugar cookies that would fill the air.

Those were the best sugar cookies I’ve ever had in my whole life.  🙂

Not only was she a great cook, she was also a Bible-believing Christian.

With that in mind, she tucked some little notes into the pages of her Bible and I wanted to share a couple.

While reminiscing, I realized I take after her in that regard.

My Bible is chock full of notes, maps, colored pen markings, and encouraging memes.

The following little note of hers gets right down to business with a warning that is straight and to the point. 

“The man who has no time to spend with God in this world will have plenty of time to spend without Him in the next.” – Author unknown.

It’s convicting, isn’t it?

We get so busy just doing life.

Full schedules seemingly pressing every single day.

The fact is, putting off time with God is the opposite of drawing nearer to Him.

Perhaps re-examining priorities might help.

The devil wants us to be distracted.

This second little note in my grandmother’s Bible actually supports the first one – a great reminder to slow down.

 “Slow me down, Lord. Remind me each day that the race is not always to the swift; that there is more to life than increasing its speed. Let me look upward into the branches of the towering oak and know that it grew great and strong because it grew slowly and well.” – often attributed to Wilferd Arlan Peterson, (1900-1995.)

Are There Sugar Cookies In Heaven? Wait and See!

Some future day, I know I’ll see my grandmother again in Heaven.

I can’t wait to tell her about my own spiritual journey.

Which, brings me back to my original question . . .

Are there sugar cookies in Heaven?

I don’t know the answer to that. 🙂

But, I do know that believers will celebrate and experience joy beyond our imaginations in the company of our Savior.

Now that’s something to look forward to!
