Every Living Thing Matters to God

Why Every Living Thing Matters to God

We probably all know at least one person who says they can’t dance.

But, we also know, if they were to accidentally walk through a large spider web – all bets are off.

Trust me, you’ll see some moves you never thought you’d see. LOL!

I can’t resist. Are you up for a laugh?

Here’s a humorous example of a mother and daughter witnessing the spider “dance” from dear old dad.

Arachnophobia aside, spiders are amazing creatures with extraordinary abilities to survive in God’s kingdom.

Spiders prey on many different organisms and employ a wide range of strategies to capture prey. They may trap prey in sticky webs, lasso it with sticky balls, mimic it to avoid detection, or chase and tackle it. Most detect prey mainly by sensing vibrations, but active hunters have acute vision. – as quoted from ThoughtCo.1

Every living thing matters to God

God’s Grand Design – Every Living Thing Matters

Every living thing matters to God.

Even spiders, which some people are deathly afraid of, serve a valuable role in the grand design of the universe.

Through the beauty and complexity of the natural world, we are gifted the ability to see the fingerprints of God on every living thing.

How exciting is that?!

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse.Romans 1:20, (NASB).2

the intricacy of a spider’s web

The beauty of a sunrise, the majesty of a mountain peak, and the intricacy of a spider’s web are just a few examples that reflect the attention to detail by our Sovereign Creator.

Stronger Than Steel

Speaking of spider webs, I had no idea just how strong some of their webs are.

For instance, the Bark Spider “has the toughest silk ever seen — more than twice as tough as any previously described silk, and more than 10 times stronger than Kevlar.” – as quoted on the livescience.com website.3

Jaw drop!

The proteins forming spider silk make that silk one of the strongest materials in the world. Ounce for ounce, spider silk is the strongest. The golden orb-weaver spider’s webs can stop a bee mid-flight at 20mph and can even stop small birds. If humans could create spider silk as thick as a pencil, it could stop a jet airplane mid-flight!The Institute for Creation Research.4

Spider webs can also be huge, like some of those tracked on the island of Madagascar, or even this one at a wastewater treatment plant in Baltimore.

I think I‘ll avoid those places for now, thank you.

Every Living Thing Matters to God – You and Me

Why all this talk about spiders today?

Because the Creator of every living thing also created you and me.

The difference between us and the rest of the natural world is that we are made in God’s image.

Through Jesus Christ, our fallen nature (just take a look at the headlines) is redeemed so we can have eternal life through Him.

He graciously offers forgiveness and reconciliation to a broken world.

What can we do with that knowledge?

Spread the word!

How Can Anyone Not Believe

How Can Anyone Not Believe in Our Creator God?

How can anyone not believe

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved seeing fireflies.

Tiny twinkling lights randomly dancing across the neighborhood under the night sky.

It’s such a great childhood memory, and one of the many reasons I delight in God.

Thank you God for the little firefly –

an amazing reminder that

creation is Yours

and how blessed we are to even share in it!

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, the apostle reminded the people, and by extension all of us, of the glory of God unveiled each new day.

Even so, the foolish still refuse to honor Him.

Romans 1:20

The evidence that creation belongs to God is staggering, despite skeptics’ failed attempts to disprove what we all know is true.

How can anyone not believe in our Creator God?

There’s a song by talented singer-songwriter, Leanna Crawford, that I’m drawn to for this very reason.

It’s called, “How Can You Not.”

I hope you enjoy the God-honoring and heartfelt lyrics as much as I do.

How Can Anyone Not Believe

There’s a sweet story behind the writing of Leanna’s song.

In an interview she once said, “For me, being outside was another way to feel closer to God.”

“My parents were visiting me in Nashville and my dad had never seen fireflies before. Most people don’t know this, but there are no fireflies in the Pacific Northwest. We were out walking in the rain because we’re from the rainy state of Washington and don’t care about getting wet. But when the rain slowed down, the field next to us lit up like the night sky. My dad saw all those fireflies and said, ‘How can you not see the Creator?’ It was such a beautiful moment. And I was reminded that God created things like fireflies to show us how much He loves us.”Leanna Crawford, singer songwriter.2

Beauty Out Of Nothing

Beauty Out Of Nothing – Gravity Wave Clouds

A few days ago, my husband and I were headed to a Bible study when we saw a beautiful and intriguing sight in the sky.

Check out these linear (also known as lenticular) clouds.

Gravity Wave Clouds

We’ve never seen clouds like this before in our lifetime.

They literally looked like stripes across the sky – white linear clouds alternating in a distinct pattern with blue gaps in between.

Only our creator God can paint beauty out of nothing on an earthly canvas.

Even a child can see it!

Lenticular clouds

What are these clouds anyway?

I immediately texted a meteorologist friend of mine.

A few seconds later, he came back with the answer.

They’re called, “gravity wave clouds.”

Wave clouds – in the sky!

Strictly speaking, it’s when a sudden cold parcel forms above and is forced downward. The splash effect is like when you throw a rock in a pond and watch the waves form and spread outward.courtesy of Larry Cosgrove, Meteorologist.

Job 36:29-30

Beauty Out Of Nothing – The Majesty of Creator God

Just like a beautiful snowflake, no two clouds are exactly alike.

There are many different shapes and sizes towering up in the sky.

And, with just the right conditions, life-giving rain falls to replenish the earth.

Beauty out of nothing

“The clouds and the rain display God’s astonishing control of the world in operations of such delicacy and strength that men can neither understand nor imitate them.” (Andersen)1

God Reveals Himself Through Creation

One of my favorite things to do is to take a drive through the countryside.

I can’t help but stand in awe at the power and majesty of our Sovereign God. He reveals Himself in many ways through His creation and in our hearts and minds.

the beauty of creation from Creator God

God created and sustains everything that exists. His power is absolute, and His love is perfect.

What a blessing to know that He created you and me in His own image!

27 So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.Genesis 1:27, (NASB).3

We were not created from lower life forms without any value, as evolution suggests.

We are made for much more.

God’s likeness denotes our capacity to rule over creation and be in relationship with God and other humans and to exercise reason, intelligence, speech, moral consciousness, creativity, rationality, and choice. Since the beginning of time, God has desired to bless us and enjoy close fellowship with us, and for this reason He made us like Himself. – Got Questions website.4

God is in the Details

God is in the Details

A morning greeting – a God-given sunrise that was almost too beautiful for words.  God is in the detailsMagnificent shades of oranges, yellows, blues, and purples blended together perfectly to light up the morning sky with their brilliance.

No human artist can even come close to painting a masterpiece like this one.

God is in the details of creation.

Wait! Take a picture of that!

Mesmerized for a moment, I forgot we had someplace to go.

Lord, we praise You for Your beautiful sunrises

that bear witness to Your holy signature.

In the following verse from Romans 1, the Apostle Paul taught the Gentiles (and all of us by extension) that there is no excuse for denying that God exists.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse. – Romans 1:20, (NASB).1

The handprints of creator God are all over His creation. His divine power is so clearly seen that no one has an excuse not to believe.

This affirmation is available to all – even those who live in the deepest jungles in the world.

God is invisible, and His attributes or characteristics can only be seen indirectly. This is achieved through God’s creation, through His intervention in human history, and through His revealed Word. This revealed knowledge of God is evident and undeniable. – Bob Deffinbaugh, pastor and bible study teacher.2

Every Little Detailevery little detailWe can easily get caught up in the “beauty” of creation itself, but we can’t let it distract us from worshipping the One who made it.

To God be all the glory!

We can only stand back in awe, and thank Him for His goodness.

M.S. Lowndes wrote a wonderful poem called “The Beauty of Your Creation.”

As her poem beautifully illustrates, we should never lose our sense of wonder over what God has done.

The Beauty of Your Creation

Lord, I marvel at your creation,
Such beauty to behold,
For you can be seen in all you’ve made
And in each regenerate soul

For you are truly magnificent,
And I stand back in awe
At each small, but significant detail
Of your created works, O Lord

For the beauty your creation unveils,
Keeps me truly amazed,
But so much more than all of this,
It is you, Lord, who I praise.
