Protecting Those Who Protect us

Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responders

Whenever there’s any kind of accident, you can count on real-life heroes, otherwise known as first responders, arriving on the scene.

Every day, these brave men and women rush to every emergency call with the purpose of saving lives.

Many times, they’re at risk of losing their own as no two emergency calls are the same.

As a former TV reporter, I’ve seen firsthand what they can do.

Also, as an accident victim myself, I know the gratitude an injured person feels when first responders arrive to offer a helping hand, medical assistance, and reassuring words.

You can read my life-changing accident testimony here

When that accident happened, emergency personnel showed up within minutes to tend to the injured and help us search for our missing niece.

I don’t know what we would have done without all those wonderful rescuers by our side.

They spent hours combing through the back woods and searching along a dangerous whitewater creek.

It is the Heavenly Father who put a heart of service into these brave souls who serve as first responders.

Protecting those who protect us is on my heart today.

With that in mind, I offer this simple prayer as a “thank You” to God for them.

Protecting Those Who Protect Us: God Bless First Responders

Father God –

Today I want to offer a special prayer of gratitude for the many men and women who serve as first responders in our country.

Father – we know it is You who gave them a heart for serving others.

Each new day is an opportunity for them to face dangers in unpredictable circumstances.

No matter what type of emergency it is, these brave rescuers put their own lives on the line to come to our aid.

Please keep them safe as they travel to their next emergency call.

Father, we ask for your protection over them.

May they always feel the support and gratitude of our communities.

In Jesus name, Amen.

A prayer for first responders

Remembering September 11th

Remembering September 11th

Remembering September 11I remember waking up that September 11th morning in 2001. I turned on the news like I always did while getting ready for work. The news anchors were talking about a “small” plane that had crashed into the World Trade Center, but details were very, very sketchy.

I had an ominous feeling about the whole thing, but headed off to work as usual. Fortunately, I had a job at the time where I could work while the TV was on in the background. My boss was away on a trip so I had the whole office to myself.

I turned on the TV and I could tell from the news reports that the alleged small plane “accident” at the WTC was much, much more. I stopped what I was doing and spent the next hour glued to the TV.

It gets me emotional just thinking about it. My boss called me a short while later to ask if I’d heard about the attacks and that I could go home. I called my husband and his whole office was talking about it too.

I begged him to come home and he said the office would probably let them go soon.

The dread and reality of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil finally sunk in and made me sick to my stomach. I drove back home in shock, probably like everyone else in the world, and turned the TV back on.

Feeling Helpless

I was thankful I had our dogs with me until my husband got home. I just felt helpless. There was nothing to do except to watch and pray.

This can’t happen in America. Any belief I had of feeling safe in the greatest country in the world was shattered that dark day.

The images of people jumping off the towers were horrific and unforgettable. For those people to have to make that awful choice – I can’t even go there in my mind.

Dear God, what is happening? Please let this be a nightmare.

My husband got home and I remember we didn’t say much. There was just a numb feeling, a deep sadness, like at a funeral of someone you hold dear. Later that evening, we took a walk around our neighborhood like we always did when the sun was setting.

But that evening was different.

We lived about 15 minutes from the airport and there were no planes in the sky.

I cried that day, and for days afterwards.

I will never, ever forget.

thank you first responders

A Big Thank You

On this day of remembrance, I want to thank all of the first responders who risked their own lives to save others and continue to do so.

A thank you also to the loyal and brave service dogs and their trainers who were instrumental in all of the recovery efforts.

I pray this will never happen again, but I believe we’ve been betrayed but those in high office who promised to protect us and our freedoms. Ultimately, this is a spiritual battle and we need to pray for our country.

I pray that God will heal our land. One look at the news every night and it doesn’t look good. Satan is prowling around and the influence of the evil one is everywhere…in high political offices, in public school curriculum, in some churches, the list goes on.

September 11thWe are at a crucial time in our nation’s history. God has allowed some major wake-up calls and there will be more. Biblical prophecies always come true.

Are You Prepared?

I know I’ve said this before, but I believe some people still think that none of these world events going on will affect them.

It will. Pay close attention to some of the national meetings taking place later this month.

America is in deep, deep trouble.

I encourage you to read the Book of Revelation with a good commentary. Pastors John MacArthur and Dr. Robert Jeffress have excellent teachings on the events to come. You can find their teachings in video and written form simply by doing an online search.

Our only hope is in God and salvation through Jesus Christ. If your faith is lukewarm or nonexistent, please don’t put off THE most important decision in your life.

Nothing and I mean nothing is more important than making sure yours and your family’s faith is in Jesus Christ.

Stay strong and faithful and God bless you all!

Life Can Change In An Instant

Your Life Can Change In An Instant

life can change in an instantJust when you think everything’s fine, something unexpected can happen to you and you could face your own mortality.

If that were to happen, are you saved?

In other words, if you pass away tomorrow, do you know where you’ll go?

Heaven or Hell?

It’s one or the other.

Why so many people wait to figure this out is beyond me.

Minutes Away From A Scary Accident

A few nights ago my husband and I were coming home from dinner when we passed a police officer by the side of the road. It was pitch black dark and I remembered thinking the officer was in a prime stretch of road to tag speeders.

As soon as we got to the traffic light, I heard the officer’s siren go off behind us and, with lights flashing, he was headed our way. We pulled over to the side of the road and he passed us traveling at a high rate of speed.

He didn’t have to go very far.

That doesn’t look good, I thought, as the light changed and we got closer to the scene of the accident up ahead.

At that point we saw several emergency vehicles parked all over the road. The roads were also blocked off already and traffic was being detoured.

The sounds of a Care Flight helicopter loomed overhead as it circled to land on the very same road we were driving on.

Life is Precious

A very bad accident happened that quickly.

In an instant.

It was all very surreal and scary.

The victims were going about their lives moments before and suddenly everything changed.

I thanked God silently that my husband and I were spared, but wondered about the poor victims in the crash.

It turns out that a motorcycle had run into a truck. The motorcycle victim was care-flighted to a local hospital.

I said a prayer for the victims and then I remembered a movie my husband and I had seen late last year – “God’s Not Dead.”

Have you seen it yet?

It’s a really good movie and worth your time to check it out. Specifically, the scene that came to mind is the one where the hostile, atheistic, Professor Radisson is dying in the middle of the street after being struck by a car. In those last few moments of his life, he was ministered to by a pastor who happened to witness the accident. During this heart-wrenching scene, the pastor led the professor to Christ. It’s a scene that gives me a knot in my throat every time I think about it.

It makes me wonder if the motorcycle victim in the accident the other night knew Jesus.

I hope he survived.

You never know when your life can change dramatically like that.

Please Don’t Put Off Cultivating Your Relationship With God

I did for 30 years.

You have a free gift of salvation through the grace of Jesus Christ. You can’t earn your salvation, but you do have to accept the invitation God has given you.

He won’t drag you kicking and screaming to accept the gift of eternal life with Him.

So many people either don’t want to believe the truth (atheists) or they don’t want to put in the effort (a sad choice, but there’s still time.)

Great things and an end to the pain and suffering of this world are in store for you if you place your love and trust in the one and only true God.

God's Holy Word

Turn Around, Don’t Drown

This is a very dark world and there are miserable people out there who want others to drown along with them in a sea of doubt.

Through belief in Jesus Christ, you have access to something better and so much more.

I heard Heaven described recently as a place of pure bliss and adoration.

Why would anyone in their right mind not want that?

God bless you for visiting my blog!

Thank you first respondersI also wanted to say a big thank you also to all of the law enforcement authorities, emergency personnel, and first responders who give so generously and selflessly of their time and energy to try and keep us safe when Life hands us a dangerous curve ball, in an instant.
