If Tomorrow Is Your Last, What Matters To You?
Last Wednesday we woke up to the news that a tornado had touched down in the streets of San Antonio.
The funnel damaged property and frightened awestruck motorists as it passed overhead during the morning commute.
I can’t imagine being caught in traffic during a tornado warning and not being able to get off the interstate (hopefully) to safety.
Yikes.
My husband and I contacted everyone we knew in San Antonio and, praise the Lord, they are all okay.
Thankfully, news stations reported no injuries.
Pondering what could have happened, the fact remains that we never know what each day will bring.
We make plans of course, but tomorrow is never a guarantee.
In Psalm 90, the author Moses prayed to the Lord for the people to have wisdom.
So teach us to number our days,
That we may present to You a heart of wisdom. – Psalm 90:12, (NASB).1
His request was that the people could recognize their sinful natures before God.
God is our Righteous Judge.
In the time we have left here on earth, we’d be wise to warn others that the “anything goes” mentality in the world is a path to destruction.
The Lord is our Strength, Refuge, and Promise Keeper.
God’s desire for human beings is that we learn, grow, and seek wisdom (Proverbs 2). As we learn to number our days, we will share that desire. We were created to walk in fellowship with God, discovering the mysteries and delights He has scattered throughout creation. The Lord enjoys partnering with us as we pursue all He designed for us to accomplish (Psalm 37:23; Ephesians 2:10). When we live in harmony with Him, death is simply a change of address. Our enjoyment of Him continues unabated when we step from this life into eternity. – gotquestions.org.2
If Tomorrow Is Your Last: What You Do Today Matters
I wish more people would realize that every day that we draw breath is a blessing from the Lord.
Every breath, every moment matters.
Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
Have you ever thought what would you do if “tomorrow” is your last?
The choices are endless and you’d need to prioritize them because the day will go by way too fast.
Would you read the Bible, rekindle old friendships, maybe even break your diet?
Talk about Jesus more?
Whatever you would do, no doubt you would want to focus on what really matters.
So what does really matter?
Here’s a thought-provoking verse in 2 Timothy.
Are we fighting the good fight?
Are we open about our faith in a world that wants to eventually close churches and remove God from everything?
